Leo’s first encounter with the ocean happened over 40 years ago, when he rode the waves of the Canary Islands at the age of four. Born into a family of yachtsmen and craftsmen, Leo literally grew up on the water. His first guide to the world of the ocean was his grandfather, with whom they explored the wild coasts of the volcanic island of Lanzarote. It was there that Leo first felt his passion for the ocean and has been constantly expanding his horizons in water sports ever since.
Already in his teens, he participated in local and national competitions in the UK, and at 14 he emigrated to Antigua to realize his dream of becoming a world-class professional athlete. In the Caribbean — from Barbados and Guadeloupe to Antigua — he perfected his skills in surfing and windsurfing, becoming not only a champion, but also an authority in the water sports community.
By the age of 16, Leo had become a certified surf instructor (ISA Level 2) and windsurfing coach (Advanced Level 5), and had also earned his Powerboat Instructor Level 2 license, proving his absolute mastery of the ocean.
In 1999, Leo won the prestigious Haiho Island-to-Island Race as part of the Antigua team, cementing his reputation as a strong and determined athlete. Already in 2001, he took 9th place in the PWA Professional Freestyle Windsurfing Championships on the island of Bonaire, competing against the best athletes in the world.
In pursuit of a new wave of success, Leo went to Maui, Hawaii, where he dedicated himself to big wave surfing and studying the deep psychology of extreme states. There he collaborated with industry legends Nils Rosenblad (NeilPryde), Keith Thebo and Sean Ordonez (Quatro International) to develop innovative sails and boards for windsurfing and surfing.
Back in Antigua and the Canary Islands, Leo founded and developed successful surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing schools. Not only did he train thousands of people, but he also created vibrant water communities, continuing to live by his maritime code.
His mission is to share his knowledge, passion and love for the ocean with a new generation of surfers and adventurers. For Leo, water is not just an element or a sport, but a way of life, a source of strength and a deep connection with nature.
Leo doesn’t just teach water sports — he lives them.

Pieter
He first came as a guest in 2025, fell head over heels for surfing—and never left. Now he’s the guy making sure you have the time of your life. He surfs every single day (no excuses, no sick days—his love for surfing is way beyond addiction, it’s a full-blown lifestyle).
Also… he’s an undercover IT wizard. So if the Wi-Fi starts acting up, don’t panic—just follow the scent of saltwater and sunscreen, and you’ll find your tech support waxing his board.
Quote: "I came for the waves, stayed for the Wi-Fi… but only because it works best near the surfboard rack."
MARTHA
Came to High Voltage in 2023 for a spontaneous solo trip and accidentally fell in love—with surfing, the island, and the people. Returned in 2024 for VIP Week, made lifelong friends, and casually asked if they were hiring. (They were. Oops.)
Now living the dream working at High Voltage, mixing surf stoke with caffeine and controlled chaos. Started surfing on a wobbly softboard, now cruising on a hardboard—progress is happening, vibes are vibing.
Fun facts: loses things she never touched, believes coffee is hydration, and once surfed at 6am and won’t let it go.

Marcus
Born and raised here, he knows every reef, break, and secret shortcut better than Google Maps. He’s the kind of local boy who can smell a good swell before the forecast even thinks about it. With Marcus as your guide, you won’t just surf — you’ll experience the island like a true insider (and probably hear a few legendary stories along the way). 🏄♂️🌴🌊
Quote: "I didn’t choose the wave life — the wave life chose me… then taught me all the good spots.
Victor
He’s surfed, coached, and carved waves across different camps around the world, but nothing beats his home turf. Young, professional, and full of island spirit, Victor knows every corner of the coastline—and how to make the most of it. Oh, and did we mention he’s also a skilled photographer? If you want your surf memories to look as epic as they felt, Victor’s your guy with the lens! 📸🌊🏄♂️
Quote: "I'll get you on the wave—and get the shot too. If you wipe out, at least you’ll look good doing it"
Little Den
This tiny dachshund may have short legs, but his love for people is huge. Friendly, cuddly, and always up for a beach adventure, Dennis will shower you with attention, tail wags, and sloppy kisses.
Oh—and don’t be fooled by his size. Dennis surfs, wakesurfs, and probably has better board balance than most beginners. He’s the four-legged soul of our surf camp, and honestly… you haven’t truly been here until you’ve met Little Dennis.
